Free day in Cairns

This morning we pick up or motorbikes. The ride from Cairns to Port Douglas is in my book one of the most scenic in the country, too short but a great ride nevertheless.

We have lunch at the marina of Douglas Port, time permitting we will have a swim at Mossman Gorge and a stroll in the tablelands. We stay the night in Malanda, in the middle of tropical gardens.

This morning, we ride down the Palmerston Highway, long swinging turns through cane fields and rainforests, back towards the coast.

For lunch we recommend Fish and Chips at Mission Beach, on the beach.

Tonight we stay in Ingham in an Art Déco hotel from 1923.

In case you haven't notices, you are now on holidays… The famous Airlie Beach will underline that point for you!

Sandals of beach, sombreros (if you like), this is the Riviera of Far North Queensland!

Rides on scenic roads as we circumvent Rockhampton and rides towards Emu Park. We stay at a small hotel opposite the Marina.

Last chance for a dip in the ocean, tomorrow, we Go Bush!

We have gone Bush, and we are riding on minor roads. We stop at Mount Morgan station before we arrive at Myella Farm, a traditional Australian working farm, where you will be able to ride off-road bikes and horses.

We recommend the sunset horse ride where you share the fields with kangaroos and Aussie wildlife. Count the stars while sitting around the campfire.

Resulting from a general request from travelers in the past, we have added a full day at Myella Farm. It is not luxury, but it is authentic, rustic and traditional.

This is your chance to experience Australia without visiting the Sydney Opera House, you can do that later.. this is you, on a farm, in the middle of nowhere! grab the opportunity to view this great country from a different angle.

We continue Going Bush! In Clermont, there is nothing… well, except for a pub with steaks as big as your arm, ice cold beer and a pool table! You will have opportunities to meet real Aussie cowboys "Jackaroos" herding cattle & sheep, sometimes on horse back, sometimes in choppers..
this is a BIG country, we are WAY OUT BACK and a LONGWAY FROM HOME!

With the help of a professional gold digger, we join the search nuggets of gold… a trip back in time? no, this is still going on today.. and part of your Aussie Experience.
We are now on the road to Charters Towers, in all likelihood we will see loads of wildlife, flocks of colourful parrots and speeding lizards, maybe a camel and if we are living dangerously, a snake or two?

Undara National Park: Land of Volcano's!
The Aussie Bush Sunset Tour will cap off the day perfectly, watch the sun set in 360c views over the Australian Outback, all you can see is bush as far as the eye can reach.
That and a glass of Champagne, cheese and crackers, Aussie Jokes & Humour.. what more can we ask for? Oh there is of course the visit to the Bat Cave, no, not Bruce Wayne's cellars.. these are real bats and thousands of them..
After a fantastic Aussie Style dinner, we settle around the campfire, listening to stories about the bush, Australians and the history of the volcano park.

After a Traditional Aussie Bush Breakkie, we start the day with a visit to the unique Lava Tubes, a network of tunnels spanning hundreds of kilometres in the park, created by lava flow millions of years ago.

On our way back to Cairns, we again ride through rainforests and the tablelands, we will stop for a refreshing swim at Lake Eacham before descending into Cairns, the tropical paradise by the ocean and the end of our ride.
